Online Broadcast Details

Qualifications

There are three types of retreats that Rinpoche offers: open, advanced, and online. The text below describes the qualifications for each one.

Open Retreats

Open, foundational, six or seven-day retreats are open to everyone with no prerequisites for attendance.

Advanced Retreats

These retreats require students to be a student of a Vajrayana and/or Dzogchen master and having received pointing out instructions. If you did not receive pointing out instructions directly from Tsoknyi, Mingyur, or Tulku Urgyen Rinpoches, you are asked to watch an open retreat teaching by Tsoknyi Rinpoche to familiarize yourself with his use of terms and style of teaching before attending the retreat. Once you register, a link will be sent to you by the Registrar with this retreat.

Online Retreats – Q & A’s

We offer two kinds of online retreats:

Practice Questions and Answers:

To attend online retreats, you must be an active student of a qualified Vajrayana or Dzogchen master. Pointing out instructions are not necessary for these teachings.

Online Broadcasts:

We often broadcast our “in person” retreats from our retreat center in Crestone, CO, (both open and advanced). The qualifications for these are the same as noted above for open and advanced retreats.

Please contact the Registrar if you have any questions regarding the above. (Registrar@pundarika.org)

Please Note:  Occasionally Rinpoche will require a certain number of previously attended retreats (including at least one open retreat) to attend a particular advanced teaching.

Internet Connectivity

ZOOM SUPPORT

The online broadcasts will be hosted by Zoom.  See the “Getting Started with Zoom Guide” here:  https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206175806#h_12512067-340a-4ca9-8d5b-f52a7ed016fb, which includes instructions to:

If you are having difficulty with sound/no sound:

  • Look at your audio settings in Zoom. Click the triangle next to the microphone and go to the audio settings; make sure that a speaker (internal or external) is connected
  • If audio is still not working, be sure you are using the latest version of Zoom

General Technical Support Suggestions

If you are having connection difficulties, try

  • Connect using a different browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, etc.)
  • Close all applications, restart your device, and try again
  • Clear the cache on your browser (to learn how, search “how to clear cache on [browser type]” (enter the browser type)
  • Use a different device (e.g., phone or tablet)
  • Connect via a private network (if applicable; shared networks are sometimes unstable)
  • Check your connection speed (https://www.speedtest.net/ or https://fast.com/)
  • Connect directly to your router with an ethernet connection instead of wifi if having slow connection problems

Audio

Many retreatants report that wearing a set of quality headphones is very helpful.  Laptop speakers may not be loud enough for most viewers to hear the subtle content of guided meditations and instruction.

If you are using Google Chrome:  The link to the Audio EQ browser plugin allows you to boost the volume of your web browser video. This can also be helpful for increasing the volume of some of Rinpoches teachings.

Mobile Devices

Keep in mind that viewing videos over a 4G-cell connection will take several gigabytes of data for the entire retreat.  If you are only using a cellular connection, make sure that you have a data plan with your provider that allows you to add data if necessary. You may have to check on this. A broadband internet connection (wired or wireless) is recommended.
