White Tara Thangka – Master Quality

$500.00

Category:

White Tara, also known as the Wish-fulfilling Wheel or Cintachakra, represents the enlightened and liberating activity of all the buddhas. In particular, she is associated with longevity and healing. As the embodiment of universal compassion, White Tara’s desire to save beings from suffering is said to be even stronger than a mother’s love for her children. She is especially known for her swiftness in responding to the prayers of those who invoke her name.

Note: This thangka is a sample only. Thangkas of White Tara are available in a wide variety of styles, sizes, and prices. $450 is a sample price. The prices range from $150 – $1200. The variety in style includes different color of brocades; the sizes range from 18×24 to 35×57 (outer brocade dimensions); and the painting itself will vary in color, trace of gold, amount of detail in the deity itself and in the background. No thangka is the same, but they are all painted on cotton canvas with water-soluble pigments.

What is a thangka?
A thangka is a Tibetan painting that is traditionally used as a support for one’s meditation practice. The imagery depicted in Tibetan paintings provides a guide for the elaborate visualizations that one does in Tibetan Buddhist practice. In Tibetan homes and monasteries, thangkas are considered sacred objects and are often placed above shrines.
