“Simply let experience take place very freely, so that your open heart is suffused with the tenderness of true compassion.”
~ TSOKNYI RINPOCHE
For over 30 years Tsoknyi Rinpoche has been teaching students worldwide about the innermost nature of mind in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Born into a family respected for its spiritual attainments, he was identified by the 16th Karmapa while still a small child as the third Tsoknyi Rinpoche. His teachers include some of the most renowned masters of Tibet. Widely recognized as an outstanding meditation teacher, he is the author of three books: Open Heart Open Mind, Carefree Dignity, and Fearless Simplicity. Tsoknyi Rinpoche teaches worldwide at more than 50 retreat centers for monks and nuns who follow his spiritual direction. His most current humanitarian project is completing a large school for impoverished young girls in Nepal with both Western and traditional buddhist educational curriculums. His personal warmth, humor and compassionate attention greatly enrich and enliven his teaching.

This livestream is for those students who have never received the Pointing Out Instructions in person. The Pointing Out Instructions are the most important empowerment and teaching within the Dzogchen tradition, where the student is introduced directly to the “Nature of Mind.” Tsoknyi Rinpoche will give this teaching and empowerment during this retreat, but insists that this can only happen in person, and not over a livestream or a video recording. As such, this livestream will cover all of the teachings up until the moment when the Pointing Out takes place, usually on day 5, although there is often some variation in the exact timing that he begins this teaching.
There are no prerequisites for this retreat, and it is an ideal place to start for beginners and those new to meditation, Buddhism, or Dzogchen.
Each day we will stream Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s teachings live via Zoom.
Day 1 (August 19): 5:15-6:45 pm MDT (time and date converter)
Day 2-5 (August 20-23): 10:00 am – 12:00 pm MDT (time and date converter)
* Up until the time when the recordings end because the Pointing Out Instruction has commenced.
Video Recordings will be made of all the teachings and posted to the Program Page(access granted after registration) within six hours of the teachings ending each day. These recordings will remain available for at least a few months after the teachings end, so you can watch them again or catch up on sessions missed at your own convenience.
