Dzogchen Practice Intensive (Crestone, CO) 2022

The profound teachings of Dzogchen help us to directly discover our primordially pure nature, allowing our confused concepts and emotions to be naturally liberated. This direct and non-conceptual knowing is intimately intertwined with bodhicitta, which is the altruistic intention to become a Buddha with the motivation to relieve the suffering of all sentient beings.  In this retreat, Rinpoche will teach us how to generate authentic bodhicitta (awakened mind) and the precious awareness of the nature of our mind.

PREREQUISITE

The prerequisite is having received pointing out instructions from a qualified Vajrayana or Dzogchen master. If you have not been to an open retreat with Tsoknyi Rinpoche, you will be asked to watch an open retreat teaching online to familiarize yourself with his way of teaching and use of language. The Registrar will provide a link once you register.

REGISTRATION

Registration for this retreat will open on June 15, 2022, at noon MDT and will close when the retreat is at capacity, but no later than 5 p.m. August 15, 2022. We expect this retreat to fill very quickly.  All retreatants are responsible for finding lodging and providing for their meals. There is no camping available on the Yeshe Rangsal retreat land.

Students who are enrolled in the Membership Program and have a current, active membership as of June 1 are guaranteed a space in the retreat only if they register within the first month that registration for this retreat has been open, on or before June 30th.

For those who do not meet the vaccination requirement or do not register before registration closes, the retreat will be streamed.

ON-SITE CHECK-IN AND SCHEDULE

Onsite check-in will be from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. MDT on September 13^th at the Yeshe Rangsal tent site. Students and staff will be required to self-administer a Covid quick test 24 – 72 hours before arrival and will be asked to sign a form verifying that they administered a self-test and the result was negative. Those traveling by air, bus or ridesharing (or who have had other public exposure) will be required to self-test at check-in. A negative test is required before admittance to the tent. Please bring a Covid rapid test with you (Binax). For those who are attending both Crestone retreats, you will need to self-test between retreats and have a negative test result. If you arrive late for check-in, after 4 p.m., you will not be admitted to the teachings until the following day.

Masks will be required in the tent, support building, carpools, or shared rides.

Orientation begins in the Yeshe Rangsal tent at 4:30 p.m. followed by the first teaching by Tsoknyi Rinpoche at 5:15 p.m. There will be one 2 hour teaching, a recap of the teachings and four meditation sessions daily. Each retreatant will be able to attend one small group audience with Rinpoche to ask practice questions.

This retreat formally ends the evening of September 18^th. Departure day is September 19^th.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The scholarship application period for this retreat is now closed.
